Terms of service.

By ordering a cake from Sarah and Cake you are agreeing to the following terms and conditions.

Wedding Cakes and Large Bespoke Cakes - A deposit of 25% is required at time of booking to secure the date for your order, without this we will not hold the date. Final payment is due 31 days before the event date, without this your cake will not be made. This booking deposit is non refundable.

Mini/Small/Medium Cakes and Postal Bakes - Full payment is required at the time of booking to secure your order. All details will be set out in your confirmation.

Making a Payment - We take payment through bank transfer, PayPal and iZettle. We require payment in full prior to date of collection or delivery.

Refunds/Cancellation - The initial deposit/booking fee of 25% in non refundable due to time already spent on your consultation and any loss of business due to your booking preventing further bookings on that date. Your deposit can be transferred to another available date. If you choose to cancel after your final payment date we will offer to refund 50% of the final payment. If you choose to cancel a celebration or mini cake the payment is transferable to another available date. We retain the right to cancel in unusual circumstances beyond our control such as fire or ill health. In this instance we will refund the full amount and seek to help find another baker.

Alterations and Design - It is your responsibility to read and check the order quote and confirmation thoroughly, any alterations should be made in writing. If requested we will endeavour to adjust the design if possible, sometimes this will not be possible due to the nature of the request or notice given. The alteration may affect the cost of your cake and your balance will be altered accordingly. We reserve the right to alter the design or make small amendments in the event of circumstances beyond our control.

Each cake is unique and made to your exact specifications, so no cake will be an exact replica of another. Our portion guides are intended as a guide only. This will vary dependant upon how the cake is cut.

If your cake requires flowers this will be discussed before your initial quote or at time of ordering, the cost will be detailed in your quote and confirmation. We can add homegrown and seasonal edible florals dependant on availability, we will only add florals and petals ourselves that are safe to eat and organic.

We can also work with your florist. Some florals are not suitable for cake use, check with your florist about the toxicity of any florals you choose from them. If you choose to use non edible floral/foliage decoration these will need to be removed before consumption. We cannot accept any liability for any contamination of food through their misuse.

Tiered cakes will contain dowels, to provide support, and these should be removed before consumption.

We guarantee that on delivery/collection the cakes shall conform to their description as set out in the order confirmation, be of satisfactory quality and comply with all food safety, statutory and regulatory requirements in the UK. We will not be held responsible for customer disappointment of the design or the interpretation of the cake as long as it is made in line with the customer’s pre agreed requirements set out in the order confirmation and will face no consequent liability. It is the customers responsibility to ensure all details within the order confirmation and any sketches/mood boards are correct and meet your exact requirements.

We cannot be liable for any defect in the cakes arising from deliberate damage, accident, negligence by you or any third party, if you use the cake in a way we do not recommend, your failure to follow our instructions or any alterations you carry out.

Your cake will be produced to ensure freshness for the date of the event. We cannot guarantee quality if it is consumed more that 48 hours after the event. Some bakes will have a longer shelf life which we will advise you of upon delivery/collection.

Allergies and Intolerances - All our cakes are made in a small kitchen where nuts, egg, milk, gluten and other allergens are present. We cannot guarantee that any cake is entirely free from any allergens although we make every effort to ensure that the risk of cross contamination is avoided. Please inform us of any allergens or dietary requirements when ordering. Full ingredients and allergens will be provided at confirmation and upon delivery. We cannot accept any liability for cross contamination occur at the venue and/or from the cutting of the cake, once it has left our possession.

Delivery - The cost of delivery will be made clear in the price quoted for your order. If the venue is changed and of further distance additional charges may apply. Although extra care is taken during transportation, damage in transit may occur. We carry a cake repair kit and will repair the cake to its original design as best we can at the venue. We cannot be held responsible for any damages to the cake after we leave. It is the responsibility of the customer to ensure the venue provide a table or suitable location for the cake/s to be displayed. Any cakes placed outside may melt or deform due to the weather, once again we are not liable for any damage once we leave. After delivery and/or set up we will where possible take a picture and obtain a signature to confirm the cake has been received in good condition.

Collection - On collection of celebration cakes we are not liable or responsible for the cakes once they have left our premises. We recommend placing on a flat surface, not a car seat or lap, and using no slip material if possible to transport your cake. We endeavour to provide a well structured cake, however cakes are fragile things so please drive carefully and slowly.

Complaints - If you have concerns about your cake please notify us on delivery/collection/inspection so we have opportunity to rectify it. All other concerns should be made in writing and no later than 48 hours after delivery or collection and evidence provided for the fault. A refund will only be given if the uneaten cakes are returned and are unsuitable for consumption and/or not as described in your confirmation. No refunds are given due to change of mind. Please note we can only deal with the customer that placed the original order.
